2D. Clue: Fissure (5 letters) Have C_A_ _.

11A. Clue: Valley (5 letters) Have C_ _ _ E.
Last letter of 2D will be middle letter of 11A

Any help, please.

the other one would be....combe.

phillip you have demonstrated that there are equally valid answers for this pair of clues - one wonders if its commonplace for the Irish women's way ...

not if the last letter of the first is the same as the middle letter of the second.

Oh yes - I read it wrongly , thought it said 2nd letter of 2dn .

I had chasm but couldn't find the word Combe in the thesaurus. Going with these two & thanks again. Have won this crossword twice this year so maybe again. Ever so grateful.
