I agree: cheers equals ta plus petal. But 9d is confusing:Advanced in age (but certainly not late). Assuming 14a is subdean what is the four word answer?

Eoan - relating to dawn, so 'certainly not late'. It's 'a'/advanced inside 'eon'.
