I'm setting a crossword for some friends and I am trying to clue the word ADULATED. I came up with this:

Just died (and died again) after second half of 'Xanadu' is critically acclaimed

My problem is using LATE as 'Just died' because Late = 'Just dead'
or 'Having just died'
But neither of these sound as good in the context of the surface reading of the clue. Ahhhhh! Any thoughts from anyone?

I think you're right - it doesn't quite work properly. How about 'Recently deceased died again...'

That is better. Gives it a slightly different slant. Thanks!
