I think i may have messed up the top left.

For 1D - Second extra short talk man's given about rotten starter, Scandinavian Food (11)
I punted in SMORGASBROD.

However this makes 14A - Turning to confront veto, bring change about (9) :
O?V?R?I?G of which I can make little sense

Any amendments or emendations welcome. (I am aware there are variant spellings of "Smorgasbord" but they all have the first "o" in the same place.)

1D is SMORGASBORD as 24A is ONE EYED.

I don't know about the clue but I think that that Swedish word is (in English spelling) Smorgasbord (I think that the 'bord' bit at the end means table)

Thanks to everyone.

My mind being (slightly) better than my fingers I actually had put in BORD but stupidly typed BROD!

So I had ONE-EYED, but had missed OBVERTING!

Again, Thanks to all who responded.

I may be back with some more later.........

that is so, but I think that the Swedish name for that table laden with lots to eat is Smorgasbord.
