Hi - stuck on 26 across in today's DM - second word is ostrich, I think, but can't work out first word

there are quite a few possibilities aren't there.

Think it may be undercarriage .....

Or wellie.....

The clue for 26a) 6 here on shingle maybe where this is heard. (7,7)

In this case the 6 refers to your answer at 6a the second word is an anagram of shingle.
