Good morning! I've got visitors coming today for the afternoon. I've rushed these few together and hope they're up to scretch. Here goes:-

I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT + 1) to allow others to have a go.

1. Pay court millions to take time in Australia (7)
2. A severe downfall may have Spooner screaming in agony? (7,4,4)
3. The absence of a soldier used to signify assent (2,5)
4. Insulin, for instance, can be distilled from bear's breech or moneywort (7)
5. Not scared to use anabolic steroid for termination (9)

Hope to be free at 5 (otherwise, later)

Good ones, Jolan. I'll try to be home at closing time.

Have to run so will post a few minutes early.

Drawing a blank with 1. Tried MASSAGE (for pay court, flatter) with M and AGE but couldn't see the ASS (as ixion would tell you, can't be an American one then).
2- ROARING WITH PAIN?
3- NO SWEAT
4- HORMONE
5- ABOLITION

My suggestions -

1) WOOMERA - Australia...WOO (pay court)M (millions) ERA (time)

2) POURING WITH RAIN - Severe downfall.. ROARING WITH PAIN ( As per Rev Spooner)

3)NO SWEAT ..Signify Assent..NO (absence) SWEAT (Soldier)

4) HORMONE - e.g Insulin...Hidden in clue
breecH OR MONEywort

5)ABOLITION - Termination...Subtractive anagram (use) ANABOLIC STEROID less (not)SCARED

Hi friends. Visitors just left. Our neighbours of 30 years ago. Lovely afternoon of reminiscences. The sun has actually come out. Unbelievable!

Thanks Ros, Ari, Tony and Chrise. Only a few of us this week.

Tony, of course, has enabled me not to have to post my workings as he has given model explanations to all. Well done to all.

Have a super week.

Bless

John
