24 down Troop vehicle 1.1.1. A*C. Although I did my National Service I have not got a clue what the missing letter is.

I think it's more modern - maybe! APC (armoured personnel carrier).

Thanks malone & marty - I did my NS in the army stationed in Cyprus in 1958 when the EOKA terrorists were having a pop at us. Probably before you two were born.
