I normally complete this puzzle but am absolutely stuck on 12d: Sports car's base is tangled up with tree (9). 4 letters go in the grid after removing the name of a flower/plant from the answer and I have R E -S. Any hints would be gratefully received.

Well a car's base could be chassis - don't know if it helps at all!

I'm hopeless at giving extra clues,hints but I did solve this. All I can suggest is an anagram of 'cars', 'tree' and a single letter often used for 'base' in crosswords. My other nudge is that 'sports' is a verb.
