Sorry Jerry the actual clue was in speech marks in my heading; and that's it : SCOTTISH COMEDIAN.

Of course it might be alluding to a specific one (no-one springs to mind) or it could be a term used in Scotland (again, noTHING springs to mind or out of a dictionary!)
