Last one:Forceful officer getting a superior post in the end (6) ?o?e?t
Looks like cogent or potent but I can't get the wordplay. Officer=co maybe and t for the last letter in post but can't explain the rest.
By the way, I always find people very helpful on this site so I'm sorry Quixote seems so upset. I like to find out the ones I can't do to learn for next time and if I can help other people, I do ( I'm usually not quick enough though!).

Cogent, because it has 'gen'(general) which is superior to a 'co' (commanding officer).

Is superior post GENeral?
