Weird today - I've completed the RHS with no difficulty, but can't get into the LHS. Perhaps a hint on 1ac might get me started:

Definition could be arm extension, think muscles, - "this moment" happens in a .....

Chris, I'm tempted to think the arm extension is BAYONET, esp. as ONET is an anag. of NOTE -- but then why BAY = moment???
I suppose I could look at the whole thing online.......................

AB and GK seem to be more on track - mordant contains ARM so thought possible...

Hi greedy kite - how are you today? Have you heard about all our rain - wish I was in Gascony now!

bayonet is certainly an "arm" extension, and fits with the very uncertain "E" I have (so uncertain that I didn't mention it). I'll try it, then look up the explanation on fifteensquared when (if?) I've finished the crossword.

Must admit I don't follow the other tips you've been given (doesn't mean they're not correct of course).
As for sunny Gascony, in fact it's cool & rainy again today. On my England trip I was lucky to get away with only the occasional drizzle in the South.Summer seems miserable everywhere.
