How many counties in Ulster back opening scrap - N_N_ (nine? but why?)

"nine" is hidden in clue backwards.

the (tradional) province of Ireland called Ulster is nine counties. the 6 of NI plus cavan,donegal and monaghan.

Can anyone explain the parsing on this:-

US Republicans note separate youth leader - TEA PARTY (US Republicans) I see the 'Y' is from youth leader, but the rest...

Hiya Brendan,

I can see the cryptic as

(note-part of scale) = Te + (separate) = apart + Y (youth leader)

Not quite sure of the rest, all I do know is that The Boston Tea Party (in the US) was something to do with the onset of the American Revolution.
