Two query free days in a row I had but my luck ran out today...

"Keen on scanning sky, left not right, peering ahead" = crystal gazing.

"Dominant old city district" = Soho.

"Old Queen of Castile forgot to study a little poetry" = stanza.

Many thanks.

Different meaning of Keen is to mourn or wail - cry -(normally at a funeral).
cry + star gazing swapping R(ight) to L(eft)
