Please help with these clues. No.97 " ...and the reticent rugby player asked for a pound!" (7) No. 87 "Talk about a right and left with an unscrupulous fellow" (9) Both answers refer to bad characters. Any ideas clues or answers welcome

Hi.

Unless proper names are needed, the second clue may have the answer charlatan ('chat' around 'arl' + 'an').

Hi again.

I think the answer to the first clue is Shylock (A bad Shakespearean money lender).

JimC Very many thanks for your prompt reply. I am up in the eighties, and need a bit of a break so those answers/clues just filled the bill. I should have picked up on the rugby clue as I was a player from many generations ago. So far this site does not seem to have attracted the punters as it did on the last Rainbow. I hope that they have not given up on their efforts.
