Finished, I think, but 4 where I see the definition but not the wordplay - any explanations gratefully accepted
Paper hat covering sphincter and tendon - I have HAMSTRING
"Hell hath no..."? - work it out - I have INFER
Buzzword - it means "pause" - I have INTERMIT
John's dictionary entry is false - I have BOGUS (I can see "bog" for "john", but where does the "us" come from?

And finally, one that I have solved, but rather wish that I hadn't!
Having tin guts, break wind again, lifting shift (8)

Paper hat covering sphincter and tendon - I have HAMSTRING

I'm in the dark too.

"Hell hath no..."? - work it out - I have INFER

"Inferno" is hell; "no" removed gives Infer meaning "work it out"

Buzzword - it means "pause" - I have INTERMIT

Don't know again.

John's dictionary entry is false - I have BOGUS

"Bog (US)" is a fanciful dictionary definition of "john".

Well ... I've heard a certain sphincter called a ring . Guess MS refers to a newspaper - morning star ?

hell = infer no

I'll send this and go back to the forum in case the gremlins lose this in the process

Thanks to both. Even with your HA MS T RING, rambler, I confess it took me a minute to work it out, but I have it now.

What did you think of the Tin guts one?

Thanks too to bbm2 - posts crossed.

Neglected to say the INFERno one was very neat.
