I think this might be ASSAIL, but don't understand the parsing. If assail is correct, the third letter of 24ac is A
Any suggestions?

Thanks again jazzgirl -see it now. The other might be something to do with ASSAI + L, though I thought assai meant "enough" rather than "very".
