I too have enjoyed tackling 665, but I'm stuck on 17a:-
Dubya's most mischievous fighting reserve? (3,5)
I have _A_,C_E_T
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I make it War Chest. Not 100% why. I think W for Dubya, archest meaning most mischievous and War Chest meaning fighting reserve

Yes 17a is WAR CHEST ... the "W" is from 'Dubya' the nickname of George W Bush, and then as you say "archest" = (most mischievous).
