gosh, in for another wigging. eek.

keeper('s) = definition
usual routine = custom
without a thousand = custo(m) +
anagram (runs is indicator) of and i(one).

vaguely seems to be a cricket connection (keeper/runs). but there isn't. you have to appreciate that "without a thousand" and "and one runs" are not linked to each other.
