Would appreciate an explanation for 17a. Those Scottish kings took ages (5)

yon = scottish for those.
Kings = ks
Ages = Yonks.

Hi Ninian, my reasoning.

yon= Scottish dialect for that, those.
kings=ks
yonks= a long time (compresed fron donkey's years, I understand)
