There MAY be a 'single-letter definiton misprint' in either or both of these clues.

Oh well . . . . these tricksy crosswords like Inquisitor and Azed are beyond me!

Could 10a be inceded, with the misprint being sway for away?

And 16 could be ananke, with need/feed as a misprint?

(Inceded would mean it became 'mcl?').

Try CROOKED meaning being awRy. Man = rook i.e. chess piece in Dec backwards.

That would give you mold for 5d. Mature/manure.
