Dione, could you use ?'s instead of dots for the blank letters?
it' hard to see what is what for the other clue.

thanks Trevor I think beau monde is correct, new term for me, and amazing to think O could use a cheat button...thanks for info. not sur if I couls do question marks instead of dots , too stuck in my ways.....will try to break the habit but slowly.I only got the guardian because the times was not available on saturday morning but managed to get it later and complete the jumbo....not cryptic, I am too simple for that.
