I wonder if you guys can help.

I've been doing some study into self harming as part of my college course, and I remember watching a film or drama about 20 years ago about a young woman who was struggling with issues of mental health and self harm. I can't seem to dredge up much about the details of the production, but I can remember that towards the end of the film, she undressed and was wrapped tightly in chains underneath her clothing. I remember it being quite sad and was something that was the kind of thing that was being shown on Channel 4 around that time (a touch controversial and not everyone's cup of tea)
Sorry I can't remember much more, but if you can help, it would be much appreciated so that I can offer the film name to my fellow students and my tutor.
I've tried googling stuff about a woman in chains and apart from porn, it doesn't seem to lead me anywhere. The film was in no way about sexual fantasy, it was focussed on this woman's mental anguish and self punishment.

Cheers, Les40

Not much luck either. Only one I found from that era was "The Leaving of Liverpool"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103471/
and I doubt that's it.

Any other keywords, country of origin, etc ?

Thanks for the links guys,

I've ended up with 13 film titles over the last 36 hours, however, non of them seem to match the 'chain' criteria.
I'm having trouble with my download speed with my torrent stuff, so my friend is downloading them for me. seems I have a lot to watch this week.

The films I will have Mysterious girl & Syzzie are:

Girl, Interrupted
Secretary
Thirteen
Prozac Nation
F**king Amal (Show me love) - Swedish
Virgin Suicide
Painful secrets
Manic
Requiem for a dream
My first Mister
Thin
Little scars
Friendship that kills.

When I gave my friend the list last night, he was apprehensive at first thinking they were all porn films, which I assure you they're not. But if you look through the titles, they certainly don't look like mainstream movies. I have looked at the reviews of most of them, and they all look like the kind of thing I'm after which is stuff about Mental illness and Self Harm.

Any extra help will be gratefully received, or any personal reveiws from the forum of which I should watch first.

Thanks guys, Les40

I've only seen "Secretary" from your list, Les, and is wasn't that one you are thinking of. There is some self harm, but it has an unlikely happy ending.

Les40.I really do not think that questions of this nature should be posted on this site!
I am sure that your studies are genuine but this site is open to all, including vulnerable people, and it is best to research elsewhere.

tonyw,

The reason I posted the thread on here was because I had no positive pathways to information about what I was seeking, and knowing the members here have (usually) an inexhaustibly rich supply of information regarding many diverse topics, I decided that this would be received without any risk of negative requital. As it happens, this was true until you made your post.
I apologise if this has caused any regression or invoked any feelings of despair or distress for you, and if your physical or emotional vulnerabilities have been triggered, then please follow the link below for any advice or information. If this is not suitable, then do not hesitate to contact your GP or local Mental Health team.

Les40,you are obviously a very sick person!
I suggest you do not call the kettle black.
To post a question about self harm and suggest porn sites is an affront to normal people.
All I can say is GET A REAL LIFE.

I think that the only people who would be offended by this thread are the ones who should get a real life.

I think you may have missed the whole point of the thread, it was merely asking for information about a movie, the porn reference was something I mentioned beacause my friend has a family and when he read the titles I gave to him, he thought that they sounded a bit dodgy, which, if you read through them, they do a bit. If you re-read the original post, it does say that I assure you they're not. You seem to have read it as though I am some kind of pervert, when everything I have written is totally devoid of any perversions and I don't feel that others who have read the post have looked into it like that either, so maybe it's your mind that has automatically picked up on some hidden dark meaning, as I posted earlier, if it's troubling you in any way, then seek some help and advice.
