36a Speak at length about...um...nothing?

My thinking is resonate (as in 'it resonates with me' = speak) or perorate (speak in a graniose fashion)

But I can't get the cryptic part to confirm either!!

um(to hesitate)+nothing = er(hesitate)0 = ero - inside Prate (talk, babble).

The whole clue is the definition.
