Good morning! Hope these provide a little entertainment. Happy solving!

I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT + 1) to allow others to have a go.

1. Association to bring families from abroad? (12)
2. Protection sometimes given to infantry as a result of bearing camouflage (3,5)
3. An extraterrestrial one, so menacing but not entirely friendless (8)
4. Cockney caught sight of the lady ... and the rest (6)
5. Logs are out as solar energy supply is longer (7)

Hi Ari and Jazzy. Great to learn they're more "solvable" this week. Must go and repair my greenhouse vent-opener now. See you both later. J

Got em, Jazzy, and Peterm. Spot-on.
Hi Tony, I just love "see esther" LOL. Not quite an accurate 'sounds like' for siesta, eh?

Here are my workings (although already explained)

1. (cryptic) relation ship = RELATIONSHIP
2. bearing = AIR. camouflage = cover. Protection sometimes given to infantry = AIR COVER
3. not entirely = it’s ‘in’ there. LONESOME = friendless
4. spied ‘er = SPIDER = rest (in snooker, say)
5. Complex anag (supply as adverb of supple); of ‘solar energy’ – ‘logs’ = YEARNER = longer

Thank you very much for taking part. Have a great week

J
