Answers to the numbered clues are, more or less obviously, but only in part, early LINK.

Each numbered clue requires the correction, by substitution, of a one letter misprint. The added letters are an anagram of the LINK.

One answer, not in Chambers, uses a Collins definition.

The LINK clue lacks definition.

1.Bureau applying a republican agenda, smell your lot(7)

2.Scots better off participating in power sharing(5)

3.Familiar description of royal couple...he's a Greek loser(9)

4.Clasp rockers enjoying numerous No.1's, like “....the casbah”?(6)

5.White UN police, small armoured vehicle secures the border(3,3)

6.Inlay carved in stages from inner sex ear(5)

7.American “fanny” coined without prejudice(6)

LINK: Sound advice for public readers of penguins perhaps(7)

What does "early link" mean? Or is that part of the mystery?

That changes everything. You should really be more careful. So...I could be looking for a banished Greek god rather than a loser, for example?
