16d Person's scarcely cold and payment for funeral is required! - answer is soulsCot or soulsHot?? Both mean funeral payment , but I don't see the cryptic bit if anyone can explain it please

in old days ships had 1500 souls on board, rather than 1500 people/persons. so souls = persons. + hot (scarcely cold) that's how I see it.

Lowe? An anagram of "Ingle wood" less "doing" is lowe, Scots word for flame in Chambers?
