Stuck on three middle lefthand clues:
17A "Good - I heard you backed boy (6)"
I have "--E-O-"
22A "Business occupation or work associated with one in the field (10)"
I have "--O-K---E-" (could be Shopkeeper, but why?)
21D "Mean male, undoubtedly, will not possess one" (6)"
I have "---S-Y" (Measly?)

Why is 22A Bookkeeper? What has it got to do with "work associated with one in the field"?
Also, what does this now make 17D "fighting man almost broke opera hat (5)"
I now have "G-B-S"
Thanks

I just feel that I have to comment that a goalkeeper would never be 'in the field', but 'on' it. I think this compiler was a little bit 'too clever by half'!
