Why is 22A Bookkeeper? What has it got to do with "work associated with one in the field"?
Also, what does this now make 17D "fighting man almost broke opera hat (5)"

17d is GIBUS (opera hat): Fighting man is GI, and almost broke is bus(t)! Sadist, this compiler1

book = work, (goal)keeper = one in the field

I just feel that I have to comment that a goalkeeper would never be 'in the field', but 'on' it. I think this compiler was a little bit 'too clever by half'!
