Can anyone confirm that 12a on 11th April is 'ONYX'. The answers are in today's paper and it gives the answer as 'AXES'.

What was the clue?

The clue relates '.to the answer of another clue 16d which is 'AXE'. The actual clue reads 'Stone touching 16's'.
The trouble is it gives the answers to 1d and 2d as 'deacOn' and 'woodY' respectively which means that the problem clue is 'O_Y_'.

Thanks guys. To be clear the DM gives the answer as 'AXES' but by virtue of 1d and 2d that answer must be wrong. As I said before i gives those answers (which i had put) as deacOn and woodY. Therefore the the letter pattern is O_Y_. I had put ONYX but in today's paper it says the answer is AXES which obviously must be wrong.

Brendon, OK, just give me the co-ordinates of DMHQ and I'll launch the missiles.
