That (sheaf) was my first thought - but it's 'shelf' (see Chambers).

Can anyone help with 27a (my last word in 3 puzzles in 18 hours, and then is PEACE!):

If I'm not mistaken it reads A?COC?T. Not in the solving machine! Have I gone wrong somewhere?

That was super-espresso, Tony! Then I assume 24d is QUARTE: must I be ashamed of not knowing that if it has to do with the Musketeers of Gascony, where I live? Don't see the connection from Ch. definition!
And btw: any new ideas on Cam problem? I presume if so you have already told Ros..............
