I've tried Essen, but am having difficulties with the middle ? because of Clue 2.

Clue 2 - 9 letters - Strange noun in unusual guise is artless - which i think is Ingenuous - thus leaving Clue 1 as E?G?N

Is 'Witch' definitely spelt like that, as in a pointy nosed woman or is it meant to be 'Which'

maybe says "switch". es + se +n. which of course can't be right if the other is, which it surely is.
