Mostly an easy one this week, but one left which has several possible answers.

6D Number left initially? (5) - ?I?T?

Now FIFTY, SIXTY, FIFTH, SIXTH & NINTH all fit, but which one to choose? Or am I on the wrong track completely?

N for Knight is an abbreviation commonly used in chess notation and is therefore quite valid in a crossword puzzle. Unlike the abbreviations used by that wanker who composes the Express Skeleton
