Eat like a beat (4) W - L -

These letters are definitely correct.
I think it is either "welt" or "wolf" .

Any ideas?

Are you sure it's not EAT LIKE A BEAST. Then it would be WOLF.

That's what I call a cryptic clue when I've got to work out their misprints!!

The best misprint I have seen recently was in my niece's kids crossword.Clue closett ;answer nearest.!!!!
