Just out of interest, how did you find out what the clue was as it was not printed in my paper either?

Someone on another site telephoned the paper and kindly he made the the clue public.
Seems there is an apology in todays paper next to fridays solution.

Always suspected that these knitting Lodges could find out anything.!

Thanks Mamya. I hadn't noticed the apology in today's paper. I sent this crossword in every week for over 2 years and never won, so I've stopped sending it in. I suspect the £1000 prize means there are a lot of entries. The only one I send in now is the Sunday Times to win a pen!

Read somewhere that there were some 650,000 entries each week.
