Hi folks....could someone explain this clue for me please. The answer is PLANE TREE, but I've got no idea why!

14 Mercury, perhaps, starts to rise, enervating and exhausting one seen on the streets of London? (5,4)

Plane trees are London trees

Mecury = planet then the first letters to make up ree.

The hybrid London Plane (tree) has proved particularly tolerant of urban conditions.
