I'm concerned about "checked" letter at 2D/11A, both these clues seem to be of the "don't quite match" type but the choice of letter (unless I've gone awry) is the same in each case and is at the "check"...there seems to be two different pairs of equally valid answers?

What choices do you have? I'm going with chap & though at the moment but I might change if you can advise me differently!

chap makes sense to me too.

The way I see it Sudokulover 11A is chap(fellow) or crap(e) and 2D is though(allowing) or t-rough - I see no way of logically choosing between the options.

I'm a bit confused as to how one can "deduce" the correct word to be entered. In 7ac for instance, the "changeable" letter can be p or c. In both cases, it will give a legitimate word for 8dn, which will fit with either the wordplay or definition in 8dn. How are you supposed to deduce?

I've just seen your post ixion, and I think I am saying the same thing as you. As far as I can see, it applies to all the "special" answers in the puzzle. I must be missing something, but I don't know what.
