I think this might be '[i}exocet' Central European Time (cet) is time in Vienna. It lacks definition, but may be one of the four such clues in the crossword.

I know it's even more impenetrable than usual but I think E and C are among the six letters as 9 down also has no definition but the answer is Capelan.

Exocet is french for flying fish,from the Latin. So the mystery words are all fish,are they?

The link isn't fish - it's Poisson as in Poisson d'Avril (April fool - 16 across being Avril,though not containing a C or E.)
