Why is it always the top left-hand corner of this one that I have trouble with? Once again I am down to the last three.

23across,'Where Chaucer's wife lived, carrying about drugs to inhale.(9). I can't work out whether it's INBREATHE, REBREATHE or UPBREATHE.
Any help will be gratefully received.

Chaucer's wife lived in Bath; carrying about - "re", and drugs- e. So - inbreathe

Son - s. and the rest sounds like "penned thrift" Thrift is a plant
