My trusty dictionary is falling to bits and is quite ancient so I am looking to replace it.
Any recommendations please.

The crossword I mainly do is the Sunday Times and sometimes The Times as well as Radio Times if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance

It's expensive at over 22 euros but Chambers Dictionary 12th edition is invaluable, in my opinion.

Buy Chambers and use Oxford English on line.
If you have a library card OED on line is free.

Thanks AB and tonyw. I have just looked at Chambers on Amazon. It has a 'look inside' and so I did and I am very impressed. I can see why you both recommend it. I will order it.
I do have a library card and was unaware of this facility so thank you for informing me of that tonyw.

Many thanks.

If you mainly do Time/Sunday Times puzzles you might be better off going for Collins as that is the one they use. It is available online for free as well at http://www.collinsdictionary.com/

Hello...

When you refer to Chambers...is it a specific crossword dictionary, or a normal dictionary???

I prefer collins myself, but its a matter of personal taste I think

Pastille, was referring to the Chambers Dictionsry, a standard dictionary.
Agree that it is a matter of personal preference.

Pastille,Chambers normal dictionary is the reference for most X-words that I know.
I certainly did not know that the Times uses Collins,or that is free online,so thanks to Torquemeda.
