I know it`s early, but I thought I`d start the thread with the title someone suggested. I`d be interested to see what people have for 2d. I have an answer but have never heard of the programme. Best wishes to all, M.

Hi Magworth and good morning all.
My answer to 2d gives the idea of a direct
line in a particular direction.
I have finished the puzzle all but 18d
which is driving me up the wall!!
With best wishes,
N

Morning all
I've only just started 10 mins. ago, so only an 8th done so far. But looking at 18d I have no idea at all! Maybe a coffee will help.
See you later :)

Navigator:
I hope you are doing well. I think I have an answer for 18d (coffee working)
Japan = J + a + sun(star) reversed. What do you think?

Thanks Navigator - I`d made an anagram out of `Shout Out`. had the 2nd word right. My kids used to love that programme.
I`ve finished all but 18d. It`s always those pesky 5-letter ones !
`Entrancing god from Japan, a star turn`.
-a-u-. I think we should wait - many people won`t even get the RT until at least tomorrow. M.

Jazzgirl. Your reply crossed mine. Of course !!
I tried everything but without the J. I know you`d be the one to get it! M.

Finally finished. Can have lunch now.
Magworth, I had trouble with 2d as I'd never heard of the TV prog. and 14a took me the longest (I was on the wrong religious track) !
Hope Wee Jock finds us and maybe Pipesmoker, old gal and caravaggio are well and will check in.

Thanks Jazzgirl.
The import of the word "entrancing" now
becomes clear.

I wondered about `entrancing` - I see it now. A clever clue. I enjoyed this week`s puzzle. Hope others did, too.
How many of us are worried about lack of rain I wonder, while others have a surfeit? I`m in the first group. The garden`s looking a bit sad. M.
