when you say clue 4 is cr, is that part of the clue, or part of the answer ?
Just wondering if answer is cremona, the other might be amati

sorry I meant to write CROP not CR

I have another check letter so AMATI is not correct though I did about that.

Yes, 16ac is 6 letters. John had right number of ?s, but wrong figure.
Answer is someone who rams explosive into gun; also synonym of "meddle".
