beer = ALE containing Iodine & Nitrogen

This may be clearer: AL(I)E(N)

Zyzygy - thanks for answer and explanation. I am slowly learning cryptics and I would put the name of the puzzle but I belong to a Cryptic Crossword Club and we only get the crossword so I have no idea of where it is from
