The last answer I need is n-u-s, so it must be nouns. The clue is Swear words.

I can see nouns are words but what has swear got to do with it?

Any suggestions?

could it be....... nouns are naming words, if you call someone names you are probably swearing at them. er...... there must be a better explanation.

Chambers gives 'nouns' as an obsolete word for a mild oath.

Thanks for the answers. I also thought about calling someone names, and I also like the obsolete mild oath !
