Thanks Jazzgirl - of course! I should have thought of that. I considered SLEEK (smooth or even), but couldn't see how it fitted with pear tree!

I was 'even' looking for another word for pear tree at first, until the penny dropped!

OOWDY FOLKS

Greetings to all and blessings on the heavy laden.Hope all are keeping warm in this return to cold artic winds.
Not a very satisfying puzzle this week with some akward corners ansd obscure clues. And that TV shrink again? This must be a different compiler from last week.
Anyway I've finished now with that dinosaur
6a ,a word with which, I'm not familiar,and
3d,I get the 'illegal' but not the trousers
but it fits.
There has been a poor response so far thisweek compared with previous.I hope all are well.

Hello Wee Jock
Have brought the other RT thread to the top as you seem to have missed it.
The answer to 3d, apart from being 'illegal' is also a style of trousers which are wider at the ankle.
Sun's out & gardening to be done.
