Seem to be having a mental blockage today. Stuck on last five of this crossie. Cor!

2. Honest Ephrain starts to talk with one (4) ???P {lisp? But why?}

The 4th letter of 1 is the 2nd letter of 2.


3. Spoil ten envelopes and you'll get letters (4,4) S?I? O???

4. We see that the member states jointly produce the very thing that can bind them together (6) ??R??? (border? )

5. Not even this (5) ?L??? {slant?}

3, 4 and 5 are interlinked. 7th letter of 3 is the 1st letter of 4. The 5th letter of 4 is the 4th letter of 5.

Complicated, eh? I think I'm going nuts!

I will supply the source of the 'obtained' letters if asked.

Francis - well spotted STEP, BUT "starts to talk with one" ? And where is the 'containment' indicator?

....even if there is a misprint and it's "....starts to Walk with one = STEP; I STILL don't 'get' the clue. Am I missing something?
