Have finished this week's cryptic but don't understand two of the clues:
37 down - A regular old American that's not Republican is amused. I have anomalous.
53 across - Children keep longing to twist - they strain their bodies. I have kedgers.
If anyone can help with an explanation that would be much appreciated.
