Malone

Do you think this apostrophe in the word to follow is one of the misprints:

"arrest's"

or is it just incorrect?

The apostrophe won't be the misprint - it can't be replaced with another letter. And I don't see the apostrophe as incorrect - it might just be for 'current arrest is over'.

27 A. Carly calls about backing climb in Cairngorms (6) ??e?ps
Could be cheeps/bleeps/something else
26 D. Bitter, haviing crashed car (6)
?i????
Remember, there could be a misprint in either/both of these clues.

Hi
I'm stuck on two (probably very simple) clues I'm sure I know the answers but can't work out the wordplay:
13 across: US band are, I've just remembered, in charts again (6) REMAD_ ?remade?
20 across: Extremely loud note (3) S _ H soh?
Otherwise the rest is done and I think I've got most of the thematic entries, but I'm 'stuck' (brain keeps thinking politics or TV programme - but my brain isn't that reliable!) Please could someone help?
Thanks in advance

mjk - I've got 'remaps' - REM/band, with a/are,PS/a postscript.
I've got 'soh' for 20 A as it seems to fit the unclued word going down.
Can you help with 28 D -I've got ???g?

Hi Joan
Thanks for your reply.
28 down - think Bruce Lee
'broadcasted' i.e. sounds like
Then a place near Wigan (i is the corrected letter)
If this isn't a good enough clue, send me another post.
Have you any idea of the theme yet?

Hi Joan again
Just seen your earlier posts
27 across:took me ages to find
Should read Early calls not Carly calls
about =c
then a reversed word for climb (scottish word)
26 down is an anagram of bitter
car = cat
Hope that helps!

Thanks, mjk - am soldiering on, but finding this week's puzzle v difficult.
You've helped me get 26 D,but I haven't got any further forward with 28 D as I don't know anywhere near Wigan! I've had a few random thoughts re the theme, but they might be ludicrous..
