Right at the end..... any help with these would be most appreciated.
24a Operatic heroine has a bus pass thats heading for expiry (6) I-O-I-. Is it the name of an operatic herione? In which case im scuppered, or it it a word for expiry, in which came Im just stuck.
Also, 23a) Bodies in the ground alongside a stone (5) A-G-E. I hav AGATE as a possibility, but only becauseagate is a stone. Is this correct?

Hello Smiffy - agate is correct - gate being the number of people in attendance at an event (in the ground)

Many thanks. The gate bit I didnt know.
Isolde, as in Tristan and ...
To have a bus pass= "is old" and expire = e and I put my L in the wrong place in the down clue!!

I'd agree Isolde - took me a while to work out Is-old (has a bus pass) with e (heading expiry)!

Hang on, of course I knew gate!! I go to many events at St Andrew's where the gate is not very big these days!!
