For weeks I've struggled with the cryptic....

"Icelanders starting to run amok were killed" (5)

It looks like 'slain',killed - but I don't know how the rest of the clue fits in!

the L comes from FALLIN (collapse beside the fellow, exhausted 4,2)
the I comes from minded in HIGHMINDED (idealistic,having thoughts that are above others' heads 4-6)
