Seems a bit tough, this one:

30a: They cover plates of meat (5,5): -a-s-/r-o-s. ?Something roofs?;
23d: Spirit found in egg sandwiches (6): -n-i-e. ?Undine/ondine?

Any offers?

Thank you, all. Never come across "daisy roots", I'm afraid.
