Hi-am struggling with bottom left hand corner:
22a: clothing ultimate in tastelessness,dull and dowdy.
23d: rand maybe in in south-eastern state discontinued
22d: designs requirement for comfortable life.
Just cannot get my head round it. Any guidance would be appreciated.

How about the number of letters in the answers (#2)
